Reception-Jupiter and Mars 2022 - 2023
Hello and welcome to Mars and Jupiter's class page!
Who teaches in Reception?
Morning Routines
Each morning, the children come into class and complete a ‘Morning Thinking Challenge’. The children will find their name and attempt the challenge that has been given for that day. Please support your child to practise writing their name at home. You could write their name and your child could copy it, or you could write your child’s name in dots and they could trace over it. It is important to encourage them to also have a go on their own!
Reading
Your child will be given a reading book in school and we will be encouraging them to read their level of book. Children will be able to access books from our class library. Your child will start on a sharing book that they will read with an adult in class. We will focus on the structure of the story and will use the pictures to develop story language and vocabulary. Your child will then be given a book that they can read by themselves based on their phonetic ability.
We need the children to bring their book and reading diary to school each day.
Please remember that all children progress at different levels and rates, therefore your child will receive their own reading book when they are secure with their phonics sounds.
PE
Every Tuesday afternoon, we will be taking the children outside for their PE lesson. If the weather does not allow us to go outside for PE, then we will use the main hall. Your child needs to wear their PE kit to school.
